An number of rock bands delivered excellent albums in 2011. Below are the five discs that earned nominations for the 2011 Loudwire Music Awards' Rock Album of the Year.

It’s no secret that Evanescence are back with their third studio album, ‘Evanescence.’ The new disc debuted at the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart, and has yielded the hit single 'What You Want' to go along with a number of other fan favorites.

Foo Fighters just received an Album of the Year nomination for the Grammy Awards for their latest disc ‘Wasting Light.’ The album features the singles ‘Rope,’ ‘Walk’ and the softer tune ‘These Days.’

Red Hot Chili Peppers are shaking hips once again with their new album ‘I’m With You.’ Fans may have been disappointed when their former axe-man John Frusciante left the band, but they have much to rejoice about with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

Seether’s latest album ‘Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray’ is filled with eclectic melodies and catchy riffs without compromising its heaviness. Hugely popular rock singles ‘Country Song’ and ‘Tonight’ show off singer Shaun Morgan’s wide vocal range.

Amy Lee isn’t the only frontwoman that can rock; Sharon den Adel also proves that the women can hold their own against these rugged frontmen. Dutch band Within Temptation heat things up with their latest release ‘The Unforgiving,’ which is their first album in five years and does not disappoint.
