As reported yesterday, 3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell was freed from jail on $100,000 bond after being arrested over the weekend on the very serious charge of vehicular homicide. Now the Associated Press reports that Harrell checked into a rehab facility immediately upon his release.

Harrell was arrested late Friday night (April 19) in Nashville after the car he was driving clipped a truck. The driver of the other vehicle, 47-year-old Paul Shoulders Jr., was killed in the crash. Harrell admitted to drinking hard ciders and taking the prescription drugs Lortab and Xanax, and Sheriff’s deputies apparently later discovered a plastic bag in Harrell’s sock that contained more Xanax pills along with Oxycodone and Oxymorphone.

“He was released on bond and immediately went and checked himself into treatment,” said Harrell’s lawyer Ed Ryan, who was just retained by the 41-year-old musician. Ryan added that Harrell entered rehab voluntarily and not by court order.

Harrell is reportedly due in court next month to be arraigned on charges of vehicular homicide, unlawful possession of controlled substances and other violations. He is also due in court next month separately for a July 2012 DUI incident.

3 Doors Down have canceled their spring U.S. gigs as a result of Harrell’s latest incident.
