Tom DeLonge Hints That Blink-182 Previously Discussed Ousting Travis Barker

Well that escalated quickly. Over the last 24 hours, Blink-182 announced they were headlining at the upcoming MusInk Festival, but were doing so without co-vocalist/guitarist Tom DeLonge. Then there was talk of DeLonge being no longer with the band, which the singer then denied in a press statement. And Blink's other two members, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker then proceeded to give a candid interview to Rolling Stone speaking about their issues of trying to get DeLonge to continue with the band.

Shortly after the Rolling Stone piece went out with Hoppus and Barker calling DeLonge "disingenuous," "disrespectful and ungrateful" and detailing their continued issues trying to get him into the studio or back onstage for a new album or dates, DeLonge offered up his own comment on the situation.

In a tweet that was briefly posted, but quickly taken down, DeLonge stated, "A year ago Mark and I spent a week on the phone with managers debating parting with Travis. … Don't pretend there isn't more to this story." As stated, the tweet was quickly taken down, but not before Alternative Press grabbed a screen capture that can be seen here.

It remains to be seen what the future holds. DeLonge has stated that he's not out of the band, but that his availability to work with Blink this year is limited due to other projects. Meanwhile, Hoppus and Barker have recruited Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba to fill in for their MusInk Festival performance and stated in the Rolling Stone interview that they want to continue the band's legacy by continuing to play Blink songs live and record new music. But, as stated, there may be some legal issues to sort out if the band is to continue on without DeLonge. Stay tuned to see how it all plays out.
