"Revolutionary" could describe both of these acts competing in Round 1 of this competition to determine the best live band in hard rock and metal. The twisted minds that occupy the collective mind of both Tool and Nine Inch Nails completely changed what a live show could be, and we thank them for it as dedicated fans.

There's no band on the planet like Tool. The foursome's ability to meld tripped-out conceptual art with finely crafted rock and metal has captured the imaginations of millions, but it only begins at the albums. Tool's live spectacle is beyond words, as their giant screens grow in size as the set progresses. While interconnected imagery fills the stage, an aura of smoke, light and sound completes the picture, enticing fans to experience Tool as many times as humanly possible.

Nine Inch Nails took industrial rock to uncharted territory, but they did so with live performance as well. Led by mastermind Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails' early headlining gigs were filled with unparalleled destruction to both equipment and band members. The band's visual concepts have grown with the music, allowing for a lush and full experience.

So will you vote for Tool or Nine Inch Nails? Let us know by voting in the poll below. You can vote once per hour through the deadline of Tuesday, July 14 at 10AM ET.
