It's finally here! After starting with 32 guitarists nearly a month ago, we're down to just two in our Greatest Metal Guitarist final round!

The first axeman to enter the finals is Tool's Adam Jones. The spiraling strummer managed to defeat late Slayer shredder Jeff Hanneman in the semifinals, adding Hanneman to the list of guitarists Jones has bested. Having also defeated Machine Head's Phil Demmel, Slash and Randy Rhoads, Jones is one of the final two, and religiously devoted Tool fans will be rabid to name Jones the greatest ever.

Pantera's 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott was an early favorite in this competition, defeating the Dillinger Escape Plan's Ben Weinman, Korn's Brian 'Head' Welch and Zakk Wylde in previous rounds. Dime faced his toughest opponent yet, Dream Theater's John Petrucci, in the semifinals and after some exciting back-and-forth lead changes, Dimebag emerged victorious.

This is it! Will it be Tool's Adam Jones or Pantera's 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott? Vote for your favorite guitarist in the poll below! Voting for this round closes on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 10AM ET. Fans can vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure that your favorite metal musician wins!
