Stone Temple Pilots were forced to postpone the final four stops on their 2011 summer tour due to Weiland's ailing vocal chords.

A report from the singer's doctor posted on the band's Facebook page reads:

"We determined his left vocal chord has likely scarring and his right vocal chord is tremendously inflamed. With such a heavy concert schedule and vocal activity we determined that Mr. Weiland could potentially run the risk of a vocal hemorrhage or suffer permanent damage hence putting him on complete vocal rest.”

The postponed STP dates include a missed Wednesday show in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a Friday gig in Council Bluffs, Iowa. One gig that was scheduled to take place in Concho, Okla., has already been rescheduled for Nov. 5.

Earlier today, we reported that Scott Weiland plans to release a Christmas album. Click here for details.
