Musicians tend to shy away from the term "supergroup," but it's tough to find another word suitable for the talent that has come together for Altitudes & Attitude. The new band features Anthrax bassist Frank Bello, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and A Perfect Circle drummer Jeff Friedl. Together, the musicians have cooked up a new EP, which will become available on Jan. 14.

Altitudes & Attitude will release their self-titled debut EP through Megaforce Records, the label that first signed Anthrax. Megaforce put out Anthrax's first five albums before the group moved on to Elektra, but Anthrax and Megaforce came together once again to unleash 'Worship Music' in 2011.

The new band was formed by Bello and Ellefson, who are longtime friends and distinguished members of the 'Big 4.' While traveling the world to play various 'Metal Masters' clinics, the duo began to pen some original tunes. For the recording sessions, Altitudes & Attitude even brought in Ozzy Osbourne / Firewind guitarist Gus G. to play lead guitar on the track 'Here Again.'

“What started out as simple bass ideas quickly developed into some really great songs together,” says Ellefson. “Our fans would probably never suspect that a couple of metal bass players would have songs like these inside of us. It’s exciting to write melody with diversity while still pushing the limits of lead-bass playing. Frank’s singing, and both of us playing guitars and other instruments, gave us a whole new dimension for creative opportunities.”

Bello adds, “We thought it would be cool to let fans hear something they wouldn't expect from us - which is what Altitudes & Attitude is."

The three-song EP will hit fans on Jan. 14.
