HBO’s 'Game of Thrones' may just get a little bit more metal – at least if Anthrax has anything to do with it. The thrashmasters recently visited the set of the HBO hit show in Belfast, Ireland, geeking out over where their favorite scenes played out in the fantasy world of Westeros and Essos and checking out the props firsthand, but that was just the beginning of their adventure.

The visit seemed to be more of a mission as guitarist Scott Ian has confirmed that the band is plotting to record some of the drums for their new album in the infamous GOT throne room, home of the Iron throne. What may have seemed like an outlandish idea turned into a real possibility once Ian found out that the show’s executive producer DB Weiss was a big Anthrax fan.

Ian recently told Metal Hammer, “I asked Dan Weiss, 'Hey man, what would be the possibility of us recording the drums for the next album in the throne room?' Like we bring a mobile studio and set up the drums, mic everything and record in here. He says 'Oh my God that would be the sickest thing ever. We know the guys that can make that possible.'”

The guitarist also sang the praises of Weiss, sharing, “All of you out there who watch Game Of Thrones, much like me, probably think it is a very metal TV show. And just know, the reason for that is that one of the creators of it is a huge metalhead.” Sounds like someone is vying for a guest spot!

Meanwhile, Ian tells NME that the band is hoping that pop star Lady Gaga covers an Anthrax song in the near future. "We're hoping that she covers an Anthrax song 'cause we know she's a big fan and Charlie [Benante] is friends with her and so is Frankie (Bello). She's a huge metalhead and knows her shit. She knows things about Anthrax that we don't even remember!" See his conversation with NME below.

Anthrax’s next album is due out in 2015.
