Anthrax Commence Work on New Album

It’s official: Anthrax are working on the follow-up album to 2011′s ‘Worship Music.’ This should come as great relief to fans, as they waited eight years between ‘We’ve Come For You All’ and the most recent disc. As we all know, turmoil surrounded the band during those years and things within the Anthrax camp have since stabilized, allowing the band to get back to a regular album and tour cycle.

Guitarist Scott Ian took to Twitter to let Anthrax fans know that they wouldn’t have to wait another eight years to hear new music from the band. The picture tweeted by Ian (seen below) shows the band jamming at his house along with producer Jay Ruston, who worked with the band on ‘Worship Music’ and the covers EP ‘Anthems.’ Joey Belladonna has been back behind the microphone since 2010 and departed guitarist Rob Caggiano‘s vacancy has been filled by Shadows Fall guitarist Jonathan Donais. This new album will mark the first Anthrax disc to feature Donais, who will likely inject some new elements into one of the world’s most accomplished thrash acts.

Anthrax wrapped up their final gig in support of ‘Worship Music’ recently at a landmark show in San Bernardino, Calif. with Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Testament, Sabaton, Overkill, and Warbringer. Drummer Charlie Benante also came back to the fold for the show after undergoing surgery for carpal tunnel. With Benante was recovering, Jon Dette filled in for him while Anthrax brought their brand of thrash to the European festival circuit over the summer.
