Apocalyptica are moving full speed ahead toward a new album. The group just issued an extensive update on the disc's progress and how Apocalyptica's desire to have it completed by a certain date has already disrupted some of their spring 2015 plans.

In the post, the band reveals that they've secured producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones, Adelitas Way) to oversee the disc. Cellist Eicca Toppinen explains, "Nothing better could have happened than Nick being on board for this record. The pre-production time we spent with him in late August gave us so much confidence and input for the new songs. We are excited and overwhelmed by his energy and creativity."

The group just arrived in Nashville to start recording on the disc, and as previously reported, they've secured the services of vocalist Franky Perez for the entire recording.

“Having our singer with us for the last few months already made a big difference: For the first time we couldn’t get enough from spending time together at our rehearsal place in Finland but being in Nashville with all our instruments, Franky and Nick now makes us feel like little boys on Christmas," says Toppinen. "Writing and recording is taking a little longer than expected but I’m sure this will be one of the best Apocalyptica albums and we can’t wait to bring it out for you to hear.”

Due to the extended album production, the band has pushed its European headlining tour back to the fall, with the dates now scheduled to take place in October and November. The group is currently working out the details and will have the new schedule up shortly.

Meanwhile, the band will open U.S. dates for Sixx: A.M. in April. Toppinen says of the upcoming run with Nikki Sixx and the group, “When we heard about this tour, we loved the idea right away! We were on Nikki's radio show before and had a great time. I really liked Sixx: AM's first two albums and am very much looking forward to the new record. Going on tour with Sixx: AM will bring a great night of music to all our fans.”
