Update: Bad Brains have issued a statement on Dr. Know. It reads as follows: "The Bad Brains family ask that you please keep Gary (Dr. Know) Miller in your thoughts and prayers The family respectfully ask that their privacy be honored during this time and very much appreciate all the great energy that is being sent their way. Positive vibes and PMA!"

Tough news to report, as legendary Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know has reportedly been hospitalized due to an undisclosed ailment.

While the ailment itself is not known, a number of musicians have shared their concern over Dr. Know's current state, with the Deen Ween Facebook group reporting that the musician is on life support. Ween, Living Colour's Corey Glover and Black Rock Coalition's Greg Tate, who relayed a message from 24-7 Spyz guitarist Jimi Hazel, all shared their concern in Facebook posts that can be read below.

Although there have been posts by some of his peers, no official confirmation from the band concerning Dr. Know's health status has been made.

Dr. Know, whose real name is Gary Miller, is a founding member of the Washington, D.C.-area hardcore punk legends. He performed with the band through 1995, when the band split for a period of time. When they re-formed in 1998 under the moniker Soul Brains, Dr. Know rejoined the band and has remained with them ever since. The Soul Brains moniker stuck through 2001, when they eventually reverted back to the Bad Brains name. The band's most recent album was 2012's Into the Future.

Earlier this year, Dr. Know and Daryl Jenifer from Bad Brains joined Foo Fighters for performances of "How Low Can a Punk Get" and "The Regulator" during the Foos appearance at New York's Citi Field. Watch the performance by clicking the link below.

We send our prayers and best wishes to Dr. Know. We'll keep you updated as more information about the guitarist is provided.
