Behemoth Unleash the ‘Wolves Ov Siberia’ in New Video

Celebrated death/black metal band Behemoth have released the video for "Wolves Ov Siberia," the second cut from the band's upcoming album I Loved You At Your Darkest, which comes out October 5.

Unlike many of the band's past clips, "Wolves Ov Siberia," which was directed by Kyle Kadow and Steen Cleavland, doesn't depict apocalyptic imagery, religious symbolism and the torments of hell. (See the first clip "God = Dog" for that.) Instead, the video is filled with nature scenes, frantic shots of running through the woods, imagery of a hungry wolf and images of the animal's prey.

"The video was purposefully very different from the well-recognized, Behemoth aesthetic," said frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski. "I wanted it to be chaotic, frenzied yet beautiful. I think this is mission accomplished and we're really happy with the final product."

Regarding the song, Nergal revealed the band has been playing it live since early this summer. "'Wolves Ov Siberia' was the first song unveiled from I Loved You At Your Darkest," he said. "We began playing it on tour in May of this year - the raw energy and dynamism of the song lent itself perfectly to a live context. The studio version doesn't lose those fundamentals and now with our added intricacies, you will be able to hear the call to Ancient times...the devil is in the detail, after all."

Speaking of the devil, Nergal said that the seemingly innocuous album title I Loved You At Your Darkest is actually yet another tried and true case of heresy from Behemoth. "It doesn't get more blasphemous than this," said Nergal. "It's a verse from the Bible. It's actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For Behemoth to use it as the basis of our record, it's sacrilege to the extreme."

A self-described "crushing salvo of black metal majesty replete with hellish riffs, thundering drum cannonades and soaring liturgical choirs reminiscent of classic horror cinema," the band's 11th full-length release is a blazing blend of extreme metal, embellished by a soaring 17-piece Polish orchestra and touches of pure energized rock.

"Fifteen years ago, if you had asked me who I thought was the best band on the planet, I probably would have said Mayhem or Morbid Angel," Nergal said. "Today if you asked me, I'd say AC/DC. That should give you a clear indication of why this album is more rock-based. It all comes down to the songwriting."

I Loved You At Your Darkest was produced by the band with drum co-production by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames). The album was mixed by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children Of Bodom)  and mastered by Tom Baker (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson).
