    Alice in Chains proved they're as strong as ever with 'The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here,' which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard chart. With songs like 'Hollow' and 'Stone,' AIC added to their impressive catalog. The band also offered up the more melodic single 'Voices' and the solid title track.

    'Fortress'

    Alter Bridge

    'Hail to the King'

    Avenged Sevenfold

    Avenged Sevenfold showed that they're on top of their game with 'Hail to the King' and the band enjoyed a multi-week run at No. 1 with their title track lead single. As the year came to an end, their second single 'Shepherd of Fire' was climbing the charts and there's plenty more potential hits on the album.

    More than three decades into their career, Bad Religion are as vital as ever and their 'True North' album proved it. Filled with plenty of attitude and punk-rock goodness, the disc continued to solidify the band's legacy. The album features the standout cuts 'True North' and 'F--- You.'

    'Earth Rocker'

    Clutch

    Neil Fallon and the boys from Clutch stepped away from their experimental side and offered a more straight-up rock album filled with to-the-point gems. Highlighted by the swagger-filled title track, the full-throttle rocker 'Crucial Velocity' and standout cuts 'D.C. Sound Attack' and 'Gone Cold,' 'Earth Rocker' lives up to its name.

    Palms

    'Rise'

    Skillet

    Skillet's hot streak continued in 2013 with their 'Rise' album. The disc generated such rocking singles as 'Sick of It,' 'American Noise,' 'Rise' and most recently 'Not Gonna Die,' with the latter track climbing the charts at year's end. With four singles and more possibly following in 2014, Skillet offer one of the deeper discs of the year.

    'House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 2'

    Stone Sour

    The second portion of Stone Sour's 'House of Gold & Bones' continued the momentum of Part 1. 'Do Me a Favor' became one of the biggest hits of early 2013, while 'The Uncanny Valley' also earned some airplay. Add in cuts like 'Gravesend' and 'The Conflagration,' and Stone Sour definitely hit a home run.

    'Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies'
