Black Sabbath to Compile Early Studio Albums in New Box Set

Black Sabbath Box Set
Rhino Records

More than 40 years after they helped spawn the heavy metal genre, Black Sabbath are still going strong. You can revisit the band’s early days with the box set ‘Black Sabbath: The Complete Studio Albums 1970-1978,′ set for an April 15 release.

The collection includes CDs of their first eight albums collected in a clamshell box. The albums are ‘Black Sabbath’ (1970), ‘Paranoid’ (1970), ‘Master of Reality’ (1971), ‘Vol. 4′ (1972), ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’ (1973), ‘Sabotage’ (1975), ‘Technical Ecstasy’ (1976) and ‘Never Say Die!’ (1978).

The physical release of the box set comes on the heels of those same albums finally being made available on iTunes in January.

Sabbath’s world tour in support of last year’s No. 1 smash album ’13’ resumes March 31 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Appropriately enough, the album topped the charts in 13 countries, including their first U.S. No. 1. The song ‘God Is Dead?’ recently won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. They also cleaned up in the 3rd annual Loudwire Music Awards.

With the massive success of ’13,’ their first studio album with Ozzy Osbourne in more than 30 years, fans are already clamoring for another one. And while the band says they are optimistic about the possibility, there are no concrete plans at the moment as they concentrate on touring and other obligations.
