Black Sabbath vs. Ozzy Osbourne – Metal Madness 2013, Quarterfinals

Black Sabbath vs. Ozzy Osbourne
Vertigo / Jet

We’re in the Quarterfinals of Loudwire’s March Metal Madness 2013! Here in the Headbanger Region, we’re down to our last two acts, and we have a hell of a match up this round. We’re fairly certain that no matter this round’s outcome, Ozzy Osbourne will be moving on to the Semifinals in the competition to name the greatest metal album ever.

Black Sabbath won with some distance over experimental metallers System of a Down in the last round, giving Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’ a spot in the competition’s Top 8. Having also defeated Venom’s genre-defining album ‘Black Metal,’ in Round 1, Black Sabbath are headed into the Quarterfinals with some strong momentum.

Taking on Black Sabbath in this round is … Ozzy Osbourne! Always a fan favorite, Ozzy’s ‘Blizzard of Ozz’ disc beat out Guns N’ Roses’ monster debut, ‘Appetite for Destruction,’ in a very close matchup. Can the maniacal shredding of Randy Rhoads defeat metal’s master of the riff, Tony Iommi?

Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’ or Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Blizzard of Ozz’? Vote for favorite album in the poll below!

(This poll will end Monday, April 1 at 8AM ET. Fans are able to vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure your favorite album wins!)
