Although these two bands are polar opposites, the one thing they have in common is massive influence from a genuine underground swell. One of these two records could easily be named the greatest metal album of the 21st century, so let's see who advances to the next round of this March Metal Madness 2014 Round 2 battle.

Cannibal Corpse took out Gorguts in the first round of this tournament. The Death Metal legends were in top form when they stepped into the studio for 2006's 'Kill.' Boasting masterpieces such as 'Make Them Suffer' and 'Death Walking Terror,' 'Kill' is a perfect example of a band keeping its sound fresh while maintaining a reliable formula.

Tool manhandled Cynic in Round 1, as fans voted in masses for 'Lateralus.' The album brought Tool a Grammy for 'Schism,' but that track is only a small piece of what makes 'Lateralus' great. Having aged like fine Arizona wine, each member of Tool shines while functioning as one entity. Songs like 'The Grudge,' 'Parabola' and the record's title track are hypnotic bangers unlike the works of any other act.

Cannibal Corpse's 'Kill' or Tool's 'Lateralus'? Vote for your favorite 21st century album in the poll below!

(This poll will end on Sunday, March 16 at 11:59 PM ET. Fans are able to vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure your favorite album wins!)
