First off, let's give some credit where it's due. Black Label Society's 'My Dying Time' just entered the Loudwire Cage Match Hall of Fame with five straight victories. Congrats to BLS! But now that the song has been retired, it's time to get two new competitors into the Loudwire Cage Match.
Black Label Society have had a lot of great songs over the years, but 'My Dying Time' has the distinction of being the first track from the group to ever be retired into the Loudwire Cage Match Hall of Fame. The track ran the gamut, knocking off five consecutive competitors in order to achieve the honor.
It was a tight battle, but Soundgarden's 'Black Hole Sun' has emerged to earn its first Classic Cage Match victory over Nine Inch Nails' 'Closer.' The standout track off of Soundgarden's stellar 'Superunknown' album is a wicked rocker giving Chris Cornell's voice a chance to shine while some sinister licks are laid down under his voice. The track received just shy of 55 percent of the final tally to advance, but 1994 was a big year for hard rock and the hits just keep on coming.
Black Label Society's 'My Dying Time' has moved one step closer to the Cage Match Hall of Fame, winning its fourth consecutive match. The bluesy rocker earned a narrow victory over Alter Bridge's 'Cry of Achilles' in a back-and-forth battle, and is now one match away from the Cage Match Hall of Fame. But will Zakk Wylde's crew claim victory once more?
First off, congrats are in order for Iron Maiden's 'Phantom of the Opera,' which just concluded its Classic Cage Match Hall of Fame run by defeating four other tracks from the year 1980 over the past month. With the Iron Maiden tune retired to the Hall of Fame, that makes room for two new competitors in the Classic Cage Match.
Congrats to Black Label Society's 'My Dying Time,' which is now a three-time winner in the Loudwire Cage Match competition. Zakk Wylde's cool, bluesy vibe seems to be connecting with music fans and the song just bested Black Stone Cherry's 'Me and Mary Jane' for its third victory in a row. But the challenge may be harder this go around.
Iron Maiden just chalked up their third victory in the Classic Cage Match. One more victory for 'Phantom of the Opera' and they will be entering the Classic Cage Match Hall of Fame. The song, which came from the band's self-titled debut and features original frontman Paul Di'Anno, has become a fan favorite over the years and managed to put up a significant victory over Diamond Head's 'Am I Evil?'
