Musicians tend to shy away from the term "supergroup," but it's tough to find another word suitable for the talent that has come together for Altitudes & Attitude. The new band features Anthrax bassist Frank Bello, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and A Perfect Circle drummer Jeff Friedl. Together, the musicians have cooked up a new EP, which will become available on Jan. 14.
As 2013 draws to a close, we look back on the many stories, triumphs and tragedies that affected us all this year. We were shocked by some, disgusted by others, inspired by many and even reduced to tears at times. There were many headlines in the worlds of rock and metal in 2013, but these are the stories that made us stop in our tracks.
Queensryche's biggest hit, like a lot of bands of the era, was a ballad. 'Silent Lucidity' is a gentle, acoustic driven song with orchestration to powerfully back the mood. Hey, even hardened metalheads can be softies at times! Here we have the song being played wonderfully by a young boy.
GoldieBlox recently apologized for their usage of the Beastie Boys' 'Girls' in a promo for their line of toys for girls, but the band is not buying it. According to the New York Times, the band has followed through on plans to file suit against the toy company after the company first took legal action against them.
