Cavo Overcome Tumultuous Times for New Album ‘Bridges’

Cavo are on their way back with their fourth studio album, Bridges, but the road to completing the disc wasn’t exactly an easy one for the band. It proved to be a four-year process, due in part to the fact that the band nearly called it a career.

Singer Casey Walker revealed that the initial sessions for the album were so strained that the band decided to take a break. “There just wasn’t anything left to give,” says Walker, who reveals that they tried a number of styles in an attempt to find something that clicked. Eventually, the guys put the music aside and let things set to see if they wanted to continue.

But one by one, each of the band members returned on their own terms determined to give it a go and doing so without any of the traditional outside pressures. With no label, no producer, no agent and no manager, they started to work on new music and when it came time to move forward with recording, they utilized a PledgeMusic campaign to help see it through.

“This record is completely ours,” says Walker. “If other people like it, great. If they don’t that’s fine too. The fans will understand this record and we feel we have to honor their support by creating something that is 100 percent Cavo. They would see right through it if we didn’t.”

The band eventually called upon Blue October’s Matt Noveskey to produce the album, which contains 12 new songs including the lead single “Stay.” Other standouts on the disc include “On Your Own,” “Take Me Home” and “Fight This War.” Look for Cavo’s Bridges, arriving Jan. 29.
