Linkin Park are still touring behind their most recent disc, 'A Thousand Suns,' but singer Chester Bennington reveals that the band has already started laying the groundwork for their next album.

“Right now, it sounds like blips and bleeps and pieces,' Bennington tells MTV News. "We don't know when the next record is going to be done. We are in the beginning phases of that."

The singer explains that the band is still out promoting its latest disc. "We're still winding down 'A Thousand Suns' and touring for that, so I can tell you we are working and we're excited, and we like the direction that we're going in."

The forthcoming disc will be produced by music giant Rick Rubin, who has helmed Linkin Park's last two albums. "[Rick's] involved all the way, all the time, from the very beginning. You know, we ask him, 'What do you think of these ideas?'" says Bennington.

"And we're kind of getting the wheels rolling," he adds. "It's so hard to talk about something that hasn't been created yet, but, like I said, we definitely like the way things are going already."

In the meantime, Linkin Park headlined a very successful charity gig earlier this week at the Mayan theater in Los Angeles. The show raised more than $350,000 from Linkin Park fans for Tsumani relief efforts in Japan.
