Children of Bodom frontman Alexi Laiho was rushed to a hospital in Oslo, Norway, the night of July 3, suffering from what was reported as "extreme stomach pain." Unfortunately, Laiho remains in the hospital and has now been diagnosed with a "serious infection."

Bodom hate to disappoint their fans, but after already canceling gigs in both Norway and Sweden due to Laiho's condition, the band have been forced to cancel their set at Ruisrock in Turku, Finland.

Children of Bodom went to their Facebook page to break the bad news to their fans with an official statement that reads as follows:

“This is not an easy letter for us to write. Alexi is suffering from a serious infection. He is still in hospital in Oslo under supervision of the doctors and we don’t know yet when they will release him.

We have no choice other than canceling Ruisrock in Turku on Saturday as well. This is a very bitter pill for us to swallow. We had decided to do only two festivals in our homeland this summer to make it real special, and now this.

We hope that we will be able to make up for this very soon. To all our fans who had been looking forward to rock with us at Ruisrock this weekend, take our apologies and enjoy the festival. In our spirits, we will be there, too.”

Bodom are still set to play their Ilosaarirock set on July 15, as no announcement of the gig's cancellation had been made. Get better soon Alexi! We need you back and shredding asap!
