On Monday (March 18), Slipknot issued a statement declaring that percussionist Chris Fehn was no longer part of Slipknot after reports (which have since been confirmed through public documents) surfaced that he was suing the group. Now, Fehn's lawyer insists his employment status remains intact.

The Des Moines Register spoke with attorney Joseph Dunne, who is representing Fehn. The report indicates that the long-nosed percussionist, who is suing for "damages and equitable relief," discovered that various other Slipknot companies existed (and were earning profits that were not being shared with him as part of the general partnership) when negotiating terms for Slipknot's next album and tour.

"He thought everyone was being treated equally," Dunne told the Iowa outlet, adding, "My client really is just hoping to figure out a way to work this out with the people he's worked side by side with for the last 20 years."

The report also states, "But Dunne told the Register there has been no official change in Fehn's employment with the band. If it was up to Fehn, he would remain a member, his lawyer said," though there are no direct quotes attributed to Dunne regarding this matter.

Slipknot's official statement from earlier in the week (reproduced below) has since been removed from the band's website.

Slipknot’s focus is on making album #6, and our upcoming shows around the world, our best ever. Chris knows why he is no longer a part of Slipknot. We are disappointed that he chose to point fingers and manufacture claims, rather than doing what was necessary to continue to be a part of Slipknot. We would have preferred he not take the path that he has, but evolution in all things is a necessary part of this life. Long Live The Knot.

The new album, which is set to arrive on Aug. 9, has yet to receive a title. Slipknot will be touring North America this summer at the dates listed below.
