Crowbar + Goatwhore Announce Co-Headlining 2016 Winter Tour

The NOLA metal scene is flush with some of the most road-hungry metal musicians out there. Two of the region's best representatives, Crowbar and Goatwhore, will be teaming up for a brief co-headlining trek with support coming from Lillake.

Crowbar will be touting their latest record, The Serpent Only Lies, which boasts some of the band's riffiest work since the early days with songs like "Falling While Rising" and "Plasmic and Pure." Goatwhore have hit the studio in recent weeks to work on their successor to 2014's Constricting Rage of the Merciless with an aim for an early 2017 release.

The jaunt kicks off on Nov. 30 from Pensacola, Fla., working its way westward as far as Arizona before circling back to the East Coast, only extending as far up as as the West Virginia area. With three Georgia stops slated for the end of the tour, the final date will be Dec. 14 in Macon. Check out a list of all the tour dates below.

Speaking with Full Metal Jackie about the diverse NOLA music scene and the pool of influences to pull from, Crowbar mainman Kirk Windstein said, "We wouldn’t be Crowbar. It’s weird, because you take Crowbar, you take Eyehategod, you take Down, you take even Goatwhore and Soilent Green — we all listened to the same — Graveyard Rodeo is one of the early bands Pepper Keenan was actually in — we all listened to the same music, we all went to the same shows. We all played shows together, but somehow we don’t — even though we have certain things in common, we all have our own sound. If it wasn’t for the bands here that we listened to and influenced us, we wouldn’t have Crowbar."
