Texas metalcore outfit Crown the Empire are up to something. While they haven't officially announced a new album, all signs point to a follow-up to 2016's Retrograde. They released a music video for the new song "20/20" earlier this year and have now debuted a video for their latest single, "What I Am."

It's a highly atmospheric track that resides in the ethereal. Delicate, droning melodies and artful drumming invoke a feeling of zero-gravity suspension, pulling you closer when the combustible chorus comes crashing in.

"'What I Am' is the most important Crown the Empire song we have released yet," said singer Andy Leo. "Throughout the past few years, I have been involved in some rough relationships with various people. I spent a lot of time writing the lyrics to this song because I was not having an easy time being so vulnerable and I HAD to get these words out for my own sanity," he continues. "It's hard for anyone to ask themselves, 'Did I make the right decision here? Am I being selfish or am I finally focusing on myself to be a better and happier person?' The answer was 100 percent 'yes' and I hope that this song will help anyone who feels the same way."

Crown the Empire were recently added to the bill on Underoath's headlining North American tour which launches on November 2. Additional support will come from Dance Gavin Dance and The Plot in You and you can see a list of stops here.
