Former Asking Alexandria singer Danny Worsnop has kept busy since leaving the metalcore outfit, splitting his time between new act We Are Harlot and readying the release of his debut solo album, The Prozac Sessions. Seeking a different sound, the change in music could not be more evident than with the audio samples the singer just uploaded to his website.

Upon opening the site, Wornsop can be heard stating, “Please allow me to introduce myself” and a drumstick count-in signals a bluesy riff and an impassioned scream from the singer. The music has a decidedly country feel as indicative by the album’s four dirt-road-ready album covers. The musical background fits Worsnop’s gritty voice well, though fans may cry foul at the thought of the onetime metal musician going country. Samples of several songs play in succession, giving an overall representation of The Prozac Sessions. The tracks range from hard driving bluesy rock to cry in your beer sorrow, with a little melodic country tinge in between. So head here to listen to the samples.

Posting updates on his Instagram account, Worsnop talked about the creative process for the album, stating, “When I set out making this record I made two rules; to write songs that were honest and true to who I am, and to ignore every rule and restriction the music business has created. I wrote the record in one week and recorded it live, raw, and real in my producers living room. I funded the entire project myself and oversaw every single aspect of its making. The artwork is by me, the songs were written and performed by me (with a little help from some incredibly talented people around the world), the videos will be both written and directed by me, and the final product will be put together by my hands.”

No release date has been set for The Prozac Sessions at this time.

We Are Harlot made their debut in 2015 with the release of their self-titled album, cutting punchy singles like “Never Turn Back” and “Dancing on Nails.”
