Dee Cernile was the guitarist for Canadian hard rock band Sven Gali. Cernile passed away on Feb. 25 at the age of 46 after a long and hard-fought battle with lung cancer.

Sven Gali began to achieve fame in 1992 with their self-titled debut, which earned the band a Juno Award. Cernile's success with the band lasted until 1996 when the band broke up. The band however, reunited in 2007 to play sporadic shows including two benefit concerts for Cernile in 2009, with the guitarist himself taking the stage.

Sven Gali released a tribute message on their Facebook page after the death of their friend and guitarist. "He went so very peacefully with love surrounding him and his hand held. He is now resting in peace. His family would like to thank everyone for all of your love and support."
