Update: Since the news broke, Deftones have confirmed a small batch of Texas tour dates, which can be seen below.

Deftones have spent the better part of the last year working on new music and it looks as though we now have a release date for their upcoming disc. During an interview with ESP Guitars at NAMM, Stephen Carpenter stopped by to discuss guitars and ended up parting with some key pieces of information.

Toward the end of the interview, Carpenter stated, "I'm sitting around waiting for the release of our new record. It comes out April 8 and we have some dates in Texas in March and there's nothing I can remember or recall for April, but May/June off to Europe for some festivals out there."

It was recently revealed that Deftones had signed on for the MUSINK festival in Santa Ana, Calif. on March 5 and they're also set for the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta the weekend of May 13-15. All of their dates can be seen at their website.

As for the new disc, at one point the band was eyeing a November 2015 street date, but the album got pushed into the new year. In August of last year, Chino Moreno admitted that the band was in the process of ironing out the thank you's and credits for the album with some mixing and mastering still left to be done.

He went on to add, “One thing this record that’s really cool sonically, our bass play is playing a 6-sting bass which is closer to a baritone guitar. So how his frequency works with my guitar frequency and Stef guitar frequency it molded a different sound, a different area of sonics that is new for us.”

The album title, artwork and track listing have yet to be revealed, but you can now turn your focus to April 8 and get ready for a new Deftones disc.
