Exciting news — metal supergroup Down have announced a 2020 performance in honor of the upcoming 25th anniversary of their debut album, Nola. It'll mark their first live show since 2016.

Over the summer, the iconic Pantera frontman Philip Anselmo admitted he no longer felt like pursuing the side project Superjoint. Since then, he's been playing Pantera sets as Philip H. Anselmo and the Illegals, but he had plans for Down's reunion in the back of his mind all along, and confirmed that they had been offered some shows last month.

Down's first booked performance for 2020 is a slot at Belgium's Graspop Metal Meeting Festival the weekend of June 18. No other dates have been announced as of yet, but considering 25 years is a landmark anniversary, it's safe to assume we'll be hearing more from them in the future.

Nola was a collaboration between Anselmo, Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan, Crowbar's Kirk Windstein and Todd Strange and Eyehategod's Jimmy Bower. Strange exited the group in 1999, replaced by Rex Brown who eventually left in 2011 with Patrick Bruders taking over on bass. Windstein left the project in 2013 and was replaced by Bobby Landgraf, but it's currently unclear which of the guitarists will appear at the upcoming performance.

Until then, catch Anselmo with the Illegals on the opening slot for the remainder of Slayer's tour. See tickets here.
