Enslaved Perform Crushing Set in New York City
Norwegian black metalers Enslaved rocked New York City’s Bowery Ballroom on Friday night (Feb. 22) with support from Pallbearer, Royal Thunder and Ancient Wisdom.
With 12 studio albums under their belt, Enslaved performed a wide range of songs which got fans moshing and head banging. They began their set with the title track of their latest album ‘RIITIIR’ and other new tracks such as ‘Thoughts Like Hammers,’ ‘Materal’ and ‘Roots of the Mountain.’
They also played favorites such as ‘Ruun,’ ‘The Watcher,’ ‘Ethica Odini’ and ‘Isa.’ Enslaved also delighted fans with a very interesting cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song.’
Supporting acts Pallbearer and Royal Thunder gave solid performances earlier on in the night, but openers Ancient Wisdom had one of the best sets of the evening.
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Ancient Wisdom and their eclectic sound and ambiance onstage are infectious to say the least – the burning of incense, moody lighting, a mix of acoustic and electric riffs as well as their groovy looking drummer who rocked out behind the skins while standing, who could resist?
Even though Enslaved wrapped up their tour in the States, they will be hitting the road in Europe. For a full list of dates and countries, go here.
