Drummer Bill Ward remains estranged from Black Sabbath while they continue their farewell tour. But not content to idle, the legend has announced the formation of a new band: Day of Errors.

The news came from an announcement on Ward’s Facebook page, detailing the new project as a power trio, stating, “In the desire to have my drumming spirit continue to live, I’m pleased to say that I’ve helped to create a new three-piece band called Day of Errors, accompanied by two guest musicians playing keyboards and percussion.” Joining Ward in the trio will be bassist and lead vocalist Dean Diltz and guitarist and backing vocalist Joe Amodea. The two guest musicians are Walter Earl (percussion, Bill Ward, Jerry Cantrell) and Aron Ward (keyboards, son of Bill Ward).

Ward succinctly discussed what fans can expect from the group, exclaiming, “We play loud, hard, with overtures of gut-kicking heavy, heavy parts.” His last release was 2015’s solo effort, Accountable Beastswhich came 18 years following his sophomore record, When the Bough Breaks. In July of last year, he revealed he had formed a “rock trio” under the name Bill Ward Band.

The drumming icon was originally intended to be part of reunion of the original Black Sabbath lineup, attending the press event where their plans were announced. Contract disputes led to the parting of ways, with Ward asserting the contract he was presented with was “unsignable.” Questions about his physical ability to complete a show every night on a world tour have been brought up numerous times, with the drummer refuting them.
