The year 1994 was a huge one for hard rock music, and one of the standout discs of the year was Stone Temple Pilots' 'Purple' album. Released on June 7, 1994, Stone Temple Pilots easily destroyed the idea of a sophomore slump coming on the heels of their hugely successful debut, 'Core.'

Beginning with 'The Crow' soundtrack song 'Big Empty,' followed by such standouts as 'Vasoline,' 'Interstate Love Song,' 'Unglued' and 'Pretty Penny,' Stone Temple Pilots pretty much dominated rock radio for the better part of two years with songs from 'Purple.'
