This week’s guest on ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ is Filter frontman Richard Patrick. In this interview, he tells us about his early days in Nine Inch Nails, getting out of a psych ward after promising to date a nurse, his many drug trips and much more.

Richard Patrick has actually attempted to change his own Wikipedia page in the past, but was cited as an unreliable source about himself. This led to an especially spirited Wiki episode with Patrick holding nothing back in his effort to deliver the truth. Patrick reveals both fact and fiction during this segment, going deep into both his funniest and darkest moments.

Filter’s “Take a Picture” was indeed written about an incident on a flight where Patrick was far too wasted up in first class. He told us all about that story, plus another ill-fated flight which led to SWAT coming on board and Patrick being taken to the psych ward.

Richard Patrick also confirms “Miss Blue” was written about Smashing Pumpkins bassist D’arcy Wretzky. He thought of D’arcy as “the one who got away” before Patrick eventually met his wife. He told us all about how his relationship with D’arcy started and how the bassist was even married at the time.

Filter’s “Captain Bligh” was actually not written about Trent Reznor’s antisocial habits, though NIN did influence the track. Check out Richard Patrick’s explanation in this segment!
