Former God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle is jumping back into the metal world this fall, agreeing to play bass for Unearth while the band's usual bassist John "Slo" Maggard sits out the upcoming dates.

The band will be hitting the road next month with Sepultura on the "Tsunami of Metal" trek, which also features Kataklysm and openers Dark Sermon with Scar the Martyr and Anciients joining the bill on select dates.

Coyle bowed out of God Forbid this summer and the group split shortly after his exit. He expressed his desire to pursue other projects and will fill in for his longtime friends this fall. In a statement posted at his website, Coyle said the following:

I have to say it is a complete and total honor that the boys in Unearth have considered me for the position. Unearth and God Forbid came up together in the mid/late 90s hardcore scene slogging it out in the same VFW halls, basements, and Rec centers. They are truly dear, old friends, and I can’t wait to spend a month together smelling their farts. I am especially psyched to hit the road since it’s been almost been a year since I’ve toured. Let’s see if my headbangin’ neck stick works.

Dates for the tour can be seen at this location.
