After Helloween frontman Kai Hansen departed from the band, which also boasts an awesome mascot, the musician started Gamma Ray in 1989. To give Jack O. Lantern a run for his money, Gamma Ray created their very own entity, Fangface.

Gamma Ray's first album to clearly show an incarnation of Fangface was Somewhere Out in Space in 1997. Fangface has remained ever since, becoming more and more prominent on almost every album, respectively.

The Misfits may have the most recognizable mascot in punk history, but like Hansen with Gamma Ray, vocalist Glenn Danzig brought a new face to life after forming a new project. The demonic, horned beast is dubbed Crystar and has become synonymous with Glenn Danzig in both Danzig and Samhain.

The face of Danzig's mascot actually comes from the Crystar: Crystal Warrior comic book series. Issue No. 8 shows the Danzig skull prominently on the lower half of the comic book's cover. A blonde babe is shown clutching her crystal hero, while the future Danzig logo acts as a convenient place to stand.
