Where were we? Back in the fall, Ghost's Papa Emeritus III was whisked offstage by a pair of men in suits during the band's performance in Gothenberg, Sweden. As has become tradition, a new Papa Emeritus emerges with each new album cycle, and by the looks of a new teaser, "new blood" is en route.

Shortly after Papa Emeritus III was taken away in Gothenberg, a feeble elder figure who revealed himself to be Papa Emeritus Zero arrived to announce the beginning of "the Middle Ages." And it's Papa Emeritus Zero, along with Sister Imperator, who are back to kick off promotion for the next edition of Ghost.

Papa Emeritus Zero is seen using his oxygen tank, with Sister Imperator asking, "Papa, I hope you're not as unwell as they say," to which he attempts to show his strength on an aborted saxophone solo. The sister congratulates Papa on his progeny winning a Grammy, but hints that Papa Emeritus Zero will not be the one to assume those duties.

As she herself starts to take on a more youthful look, the sister reiterates that the new Papa should be, "A new leader with youth and stamina and sexual charisma. Someone more like, well you, but in your prime." She also tells Papa Emeritus Zero that she will need his help with the new Papa, who should be arriving soon, and we nearly get a look at the new Papa as he approaches.

Will we learn the identity and look of the new Papa Emeritus before May? The band returns to the road May 5 in Riverside, Calif. for the start of the "Rats on the Road" tour. Dates for the run can be found here. The group has also been working on music for a new album, and with the Papa Emeritus tease, it's likely more info will be coming soon.
