Godsmack Cancel European Tour Dates Due to Sully Erna Illness
Godsmack have been on the road for several months now, and, as is the case with any band, a certain amount of fatigue sets in after so many performances. The band started their 2012 touring schedule, which still has a good amount of dates left, in April with their co-headlining stint with Staind on the Mass Chaos tour. The band still had about 10 dates to go on their European tour when misfortune struck.
In an official statement on Godsmack's website, the band has announced the cancellation of several upcoming gigs:
Godsmack announced today that, due to an unfortunate illness with Sully Erna, the band will be forced to cancel several dates on their current European tour. Erna has been advised by doctors to not sing for the next five days. Their performance at Luxembourg's Rock a Field Festival, The Bataclan in Paris France for Sunday June 24th, and Zurich Switzerland at Komplex 457 on June 26th will unfortunately all be cancelled. Information regarding ticket refunds can be found at the box office for each venue.
If Erna's recovery goes as planned, Godsmack will return to the stage on June 28 for their gig in Wien, Austria. The band's next break in the action comes in late July, where they'll have almost a month off before their 39-date engagement on the Rockstar Uproar Festival.
In the video below, Godsmack talks about their experiences on this leg of the European tour, as well as rejoining Staind for the Uproar Festival. The band also speaks about their recently release 'Live & Inspired' disc, the band's first-ever official live album.
