Godsmack singer Sully Erna will be releasing his second solo album, Hometown Life, on Sept. 30 through BMG. The album will feature a new sonic direction as indicated by the title track (video above).

Venturing away from the tribal sounds of AvalonHometown Life is comprised of 10 tracks that span from singer-songwriter, piano-led songs like the title track, bossa nova ("Take All of Me"), island ("Your Own Drum"), Motown-inflected ("Turn It Up" featuring Erna's father on the trumpet), country ("Different Kind of Tears") and symphonic moments ("Blue Skies" and "Forever My Infinity").

Commenting on the record, Erna stated, "When I do a solo album, I write for myself. It's not for critics, radio or even fans. I like to explore different kinds of music that work together. A good song is a good song. I stopped categorizing a long time ago."

The album features the same backing band as his debut save for percussionist Niall Gregory. Proud of their performances, the singer said, "It was cool to see the same exact players sound completely different on this album. It just goes to show their musicianship and versatility. They can really pull off anything I ask of them."

Fans can pre-order Hometown Life either at Erna's webstore or digitally through iTunes. Bundle packages are available at his webstore with a vinyl option as well.
