The single will be released to radio on June 9, and be available for download on iTunes the following day. There’s no release date yet for the album, which was produced by Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Evanescence).
Fortman also produced Godsmack’s last album, 2010’s ‘Oracle.’ It was their third consecutive studio album to top the Billboard 200 album chart, and went Gold. It also spawned the No. 1 mainstream rock singles ‘Whiskey Hangover’ and ‘Cryin’ Like a Bitch,’ with ‘Love-Hate-Sex-Pain’ peaking at No. 2.
“You know, it was getting rough,” Erna says. “You know, I’m not gonna lie — the band was getting into a funky place and there was talks about breaking up and, you know, not really staying a band anymore. But you know, I think it was just some time we needed, some time to really reassess the thing and really appreciate what we have as a band. We’ve always been kind of level-headed about things and eventually we just needed to let a little time pass and let the dust settle.”
Godsmack will be playing this year’s Monster Energy Aftershock 2014 Festival in Sacramento, Calif. They are on the bill for day two of the festival on Sept. 14 along with bands such as Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Rise Against, Seether, Mastodon, Pennywise, Theory of a Deadman, Buckcherry, Of Mice & Men and more.
