The accolades have been rolling in for Gojira in response to their Magma album, and the latest honor comes from the Grammys, where the band is one of the few hard rocking outfits to receive multiple nominations. They were nominated for Best Metal Performance for the song "Silvera," while their Magma disc got a Best Rock Album nod as well.

The band commented on the major news, stating, "We are honored and excited to receive our first Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Album of 2016. We want to thank the Gojira fans around the world who have continued to help us achieve many firsts with Magma. We couldn't be more proud and grateful."

The group also recently received some kind words from a peer, as Metallica's Kirk Hammett had nothing but praise for the album as well. In a chat with the Malay Mail Online, the Metallica guitarist called Gojira "the best thing I've heard in a long time," and went on to add, “I love their new album. I think it’s an incredible piece of art. It’s heavy, it’s vibey, it’s moody. It has all the things you want to hear — great complex rhythms, great drumming, great riffs, great songs.”

Fans in the U.S. will have a chance to see Gojira rocking music from the Magma album again in 2017. The band just announced a brief tour with Opeth that is set to take place stateside during the month of May. See the dates here.
