The time has come to dig a little deeper into the supergroup known as Gone Is Gone. The experimental rock outfit has just released the second taste of music from their forthcoming self-titled EP, a new song called "Starlight."

As seen in the Raul Gonzo-directed video above, the song is more of a dark and moody offering, first bolstered by Mike Zarin's haunting keyboard work before picking up in intensity. Mastodon's Troy Sanders handles the more entrancing vocals with ease, while bassist Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age) and drummer Tony Hajjar (At the Drive-In) keep the pace. As for the clip itself, it's primarily a performance piece with the band shot in silhouette against a backdrops of blues, greens and purples.

Sanders says of the song, Facing adversity with magnitudes of willpower. Amassing strength to erase fear and fulfill all void with purpose. A story of survival mode. This one hits close to the heart.”

Gone Is Gone played their first ever live show at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles in late April to rave reviews, but have held off on announcing other performances until now. They've just booked four more shows with performances set to take place in Los Angeles (July 7, Teragram Ballroom), New York (July 11, Bowery Ballroom), Washington, D.C. (July 12, Rock & Roll Hotel) and Brooklyn (July 13, St. Vitus). Tickets will go on sale this Friday (May 27) at 10AM local time via the band's website.

The band's self-titled debut EP is due July 8 via Black Dune Records in association with Rise Records and BMG. You can pre-order a digital copy via iTunes and get the instant grat tracks "Violescent" and "Starlight." You can also pre-order the disc in a variety of physical formats and options at this location.
