This story gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "pants on the ground!" Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was booted from a Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland, Calif. to Burbank, a Los Angeles suburb, due to the fact that he –get this!- wore saggy pants.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, Armstrong tweeted his displeasure about the matter, writing: "Just got kicked off a Southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f---. No joke!" We're not sure how baggy pants effect the operation of a commercial airliner…

...However, Reuters reports that an eyewitness to the drama just so happened to be Cindy Qiu, who works as an associate producer at Bay area television station ABC7/KGO-TV. Qiu said that a flight attendant asked Armstrong to pull up his pants, to which he reportedly replied, "Don't you have better things to do than worry about that?" He was then ultimately asked to leave the plane. So perhaps it was his banter with the flight attendant that sparked his removal from the aerial vessel.

The airline immediately leapt into a damage control mode. "As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this customer's experience," a spokesperson for the airline said after the fact. "He elected to take the next flight."
