This year's South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, was already going to include plenty of Green Day, as two documentaries featuring the band are set to be screened on March 15 during the film portion of the festival. Now, it has been announced the band will be there as well to play a show that night, marking the band's first gig since frontman Billie Joe Armstrong entered rehab back in September.

There will be a double feature at the Paramount Theatre: the world premiere of 'Broadway Idiot' and a screening of the Green Day documentary '¡Cuatro!' Later that night, the band will perform at the ACL-Live at the Moody Theatre.

Several other music-related films will also be screening at SXSW, including Dave Grohl‘s ‘Sound City' documentary. In addition, Grohl will be a keynote speaker during the music portion of South by Southwest.

Also featured will be ‘Artifact,’ a 30 Seconds to Mars documentary detailing the band's battle with their record label and recording of 'This Is War,' along with movies centered on Bikini Kill singer Kathleen Hanna (‘The Punk Singer’) and Snoop Dogg  (‘Reincarnated).

Later in March, Green Day will be hitting the road, kicking off a tour that was supposed to happen in January, but was delayed when frontman Armstrong entered rehab last year. After the North American leg of the tour wraps up, the band will head to Europe in late May.
