It's a battle of punk royalty in this Round 1 matchup to determine the best live act in hard rock and metal.

Green Day established themselves early on in their career as a force to be reckoned with. The trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool ripped through song after song with plenty of aggression, snarl and attitude. And as has been seen, there's a sense of unpredictability to their sets, with Armstrong having little filter in his stage banter. Over the years, they've amassed a more diverse set of hits that provides more variety, but that energetic punk show spirit is still there well into their career.

And when speaking about punk shows, you can't forget what Iggy and the Stooges have brought to the table. The shirtless wonder Iggy Pop is one of music's most engaging frontmen and you'll have a hard time taking your eyes off him. And the raw power that the Stooges provide is not something to be missed. If imitation is the best flattery, then Pop must be feeling pretty flattered watching how commonplace that stage diving and crowd surfing has become since his no holds barred vibe first had him getting up close and personal with the crowd all those years ago.

So here's your chance to let us know -- who is the better live act? Vote for Green Day or Iggy and the Stooges. You can vote once per hour through the deadline of Tuesday, July 14 at 10AM ET.
