What is the best hard rock hit of the 21st century? You can help us figure it out by voting in our Rocktober Rumble Tournament. Two powerhouse bands face off in this Round 1 matchup.

On one side, you've got Green Day, who saw a career resurgence in 2004 with their American Idiot album, bolstered by the major hit single "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." The melodic rocker spent 14 weeks at No. 1 and was chosen as the Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Take a listen below.

The other half of this matchup is Rise Against and their monster single "Ready to Fall." You could hardly escape the song at radio in 2006, and it helped make The Sufferer and the Witness one of the biggest albums of the band's career. The aggressive anthem can be heard in the player below.

After listening to both songs, let your vote count. You can vote once per hour through the deadline of Monday, Oct. 17 at 10AM ET. And be sure to vote in our other pairings, which you can do by clicking on the red button below.
