At this year’s NAMM expo in Anaheim, Calif., Halestorm stopped by the Gibson showroom for a 3-song acoustic set. The set included their brand new song ‘Here’s To Us,’ in addition to a cover of the Heart classic ‘All I Want To Do (Is Make Love To You)’, and ‘I Get Off’ from their debut self-titled disc.

After their set, the band spoke to Backstage Access about the new song ‘Here’s to Us,’ the recording process for their upcoming release ‘The Strange Case Of…,' as well as their upcoming tour with Godsmack and Staind.

Guitarist Joe Hottinger described ‘Here’s To Us’ as “a song for the losers.” He expanded on that a little, explaining, “Not like loser people but the losers; you don’t always win everything in life.” Bassist Josh Smith chimed in as well, calling it “an underdog song.”

Frontwoman Lzzy Hale had her own take on it, saying, “There’s absolute ups and downs in a band, and we literally celebrate every milestone whether it’s good or bad. We’ve had some low points where it was like, let’s get the champagne out or let’s go get a bottle of wine and just mark it and say we’re still here."

Drummer Arejay Hale spoke about the album as a whole, explaining the two different sides of it, “After coming off of our covers EP, we felt like we could write heavier songs so this album is less middle of the road. The heavy songs are heavier and the soft songs are more intimate so it’s got a cool duality to it.”

The full length album isn’t out until April 10 but fans can check out a preview of four of the tracks on the band’s recently released EP ‘Hello, It’s Mz. Hyde.’

Halestorm will join Godsmack and Staind for the Mass Chaos Tour kicking off on April 13 and running through May 18. Check out all the dates here.
