No. 15: Heaven & Hell, ‘Bible Black’ – Top 21st Century Metal Songs

Rhino

In 2009, Black Sabbath members Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice released ‘The Devil You Know’ under the name of Heaven & Hell. With brilliant performances from all involved, the song ‘Bible Black’ is one of the most singularly genius pieces of metal music from the 2000s.

The incredible voice of Dio tells the story of a man entranced by an evil version of the Holy Bible in ‘Bible Black,’ which was recorded only months before Dio’s cancer diagnosis. However, the legendary vocalist, who was 66 years-old at the time of the single’s release, somehow managed to unveil one of the greatest vocal performances of his career for ‘Bible Black.’
