Update: Tool guitarist Adam Jones has publicly claimed that his comment about the band's new record being done was simply a joke:

It's been almost eight full years since Tool gifted fans with '10,000 Days' back in 2006, and ever since, followers of the massively successful band have been praying for a new record. There have been tons of small updates on the progress of Tool's fifth full-length album in the past couple of years, but in a new report, a reliable source has written that Tool may be "100 percent done" with the record.

The eight years since '10,000 Days' has resulted in the longest drought between Tool albums since the band's formation. Tool has never been a band to release an album every two or three years, but even by the alternative metal / experimental rock band's standards, eight years is a long time. Last year, drummer Danny Carey predicted a possible 2013 release for Tool's newest offering, but sadly, it was not meant to be. Since then, singer Maynard James Keenan teased a 2014 release date, along with new material from A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

As for the newest update on Tool's album, Crave Online is reporting that guitarist Adam Jones told a fan that Tool's fifth full-length is "100 percent done" during a pre-show VIP meet & greet in Portland, Ore. on March 6. Jones also reportedly stated that the record should arrive later this year.

Tool are currently on the road to perform a select number of March U.S. tour dates. For the full list of dates, click here.
