The metal world lost one of its greatest guitarists of all time in 2013. On May 2 at around 11AM PST, Slayer shredder Jeff Hanneman suddenly passed away from liver failure.

Hanneman had been on the sidelines for the last two years of his life, healing from a nasty bout of necrotizing fasciitis, most likely from a spider bite. However it was determined that Hanneman died from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver.

As one of the most influential and important guitarist in the history of heavy metal, Hanneman will be missed greatly.
