Despite all his rage, Jim Carrey is still just a rat in a cage? What’s does he have to be angry about – earning $20 million a picture?

The actor-comedian undoubtedly surprised more than a few people in the audience of Arlene’s Grocery in New York on Friday when he hopped up onstage at the tiny club to bust out a performance of a couple alt-rock classics with a live karaoke band. Carrey — who reportedly had a camera crew in tow filming the stunt — blasted through versions of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ and Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’ and the crowd on hand obviously ate it up.

As for people who’ve watched the video — let’s just say reactions to his versions have been mixed. But Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan was moved enough to comment about it on his band’s Twitter page, writing “We love you @JimCarrey — You got all the F’n cheese.”
