A brutal new project has been formed featuring members of Job for a Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder and Deeds of Flesh. Serpent of Gnosis have unleashed a new track, “The Colorless Capsules,” from their upcoming debut album, As I Drink From the Infinite Well of Inebriation.

With Job for a Cowboy playing just one show since 2013 and releasing no new music since 2014’s Sun Eater, fans have been dying to hear Jonny Davy’s guttural again. Along with Davy, JFAC guitarists Alan Glassman and Tony Sannicandro have reemerged with Serpent of Gnosis, teaming with The Black Dahlia Murder bassist Max Lavelle and Deeds of Flesh drummer Darren Cesca.

“The Colorless Capsules” is a two-minute spree of violence walking a line between death metal and deathgrind, focused on the opioid epidemic and the scourge of addiction. “We are a collection of small cavemen who enjoy fast and heavy things,” Davy tells Decibel. “This song describes instances of addiction and the dependencies that align with it, particularly in the pharmaceutical form.”

Glassman and Cesca began writing together in 2018, inviting the others into the fold “to help fill the gaps.” Each member recorded their parts from home, while the album was mixed entirely by Cesca.

Listen to “The Colorless Capsules” above. As I Drink From the Infinite Well of Inebriation will be released June 14 and fans can pre-order the album here.
